The Band

Instincts“ the debut album of the foursome from Vienna. Groove Metal at it‘s best. A fresh stormgust which makes it‘s way directly into the auditory canal. Impressive Hooklines matched with catchy riffs, a midtempo battleship cribed with fine thrash bonds. This album was made to hit the listener directly in the neck. Every track paths it‘s way into the brain to claw it in a rude way and to awake the instincts. Lyrics which reflect life and intermediate undreamed energies.

„We are not a very melodic band, we are always searching for the perfect riff. That´s the basic of our music.“

singer Jochen reflects. On stage the energy level is getting to the top. BASANOS assure with a brutal live show which leaves no one cold. „INSTINCTS“ contents agressive pounding anthems about life itself and also melancholic parts, which tell from pain and distress. With this debut BASANOS show what‘s the basic of their legislating. On the second album „CRACKING THE SLEDGE“ the limits will be shifted again, more pure Thrash Metal combined with Doom and Sludge Elements. Agressive shouts underlined by the typical BASANOS groove and riffs. The Monster strikes again, amplified it‘s style and takes a step forward. 2011: this year it‘s time to CRACK THE SLEDGE!!!

Pushing riffs, aggressive shouts and stomping grooves.

BASANOS were established at the end of 2007 in Vienna, Austria. After several line-up changes the band now consists of the members Roman Skomar (Guitar), Jochen Hagl (Voice), Wolf-Dieter Vogl (Bass) and Moritz Rauter (Drums). Often labeled by magazines as “Pantera meets Hatebreed” BASANOS operates on a wide range from Neo-Thrash-Metal, Death, Sludge, Stoner, Hardcore as well as Hardrock. They create highly versatile groove metal songs, which forces heads to bang and forming circle pits at their live shows. Rage, desparation and self-discovery, but also experiences from everyday life is the main tenor of the lyrics.

After playing many successful shows across Austria, BASANOS decided in summer 2009 to produce their demo “Kill The Master”. Full of new ideas and motivated by the positive feedback from national and international magazines, the band started to search for an appropriate label to produce their debut album. And finally a contract with the Austrian label Noisehead Records was signed at the end of 2009. On 28th May 2010 the debut album “Instincts” was released, produced by Mario Jezik and BASANOS at the Noishead Records Studios. The album is distributed worldwide by Twilight and Relapse Rec. The record received a very positive response from the national and international press (5/5 points from the US Metal Assault Radio, 8.5/10 points from the Greek Rebels magazine, 7/10 points from the German metal.de …) and it was honoured by the Belgian Mindview magazine with the second place on the list “Best Album 2010”.

With full commitment BASANOS produced two music videos of their songs “Agonies” and “One Voice”, and they played several festival and support shows with international top-acts like LIFE OF AGONY and CROWBAR as well as top-acts from the scene like WATCH ME BLEED or EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS. As a reward of the hard work BASANOS were voted on the first place in the category “Best Underground Band 2010” at the annual poll of the Austrian Stormbringer.at magazine. At the “Road To Redemption” tour in Februrary 2011, together with EKTOMORF and the Brazilean band KORZUS, BASANOS were able to show their potential and their live skills in Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

In May 2011 BASANOS headed back to the Noisehead Studios to record their second album “Cracking The Sledge”.  The songs are more versatile, more unusual, more extreme as their predecessors, showing raw and fast thrash metal as well as the bias of the band to sludge and southern rock.

Cracking The Sledge” is going to be released by Noisehead Records on 23rd September 2011 and it is going to be distributed by Twilight Records.
